The Dugong Island Viewing Platform
Sydney Aquarium was given a $10 million upgrade and re-open as ‘SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium’ last September 2012.
The aquarium, situated in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, was refurbished for the first time since opening in 1988. The plans were created when Merlin Entertainments Group acquired the attraction in March last year.
In addition to the new look, the aquarium had re-branded itself with the globally recognised ‘SEA LIFE’ banner.
The upgrade showcased 14 newly-themed zones including a Shark Walk, a Tropical Bay of Rays habitat, an interactive Touch Pool, a Shipwreck area and a newly themed ocean walk-through.
As one of the leading tourist destinations in the country, the refurbishment of Sydney Aquarium will further enhance the attraction’s world class reputation and will certainly cement its place on the global stage as a truly interactive and educational experience that is a must-see for visitors of all ages,” said Edward Fuller, divisional director of the Merlin Entertainments Group.
